We use a balanced approach for literacy that includes phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension
Our 120 minute time block is broken into sections that incorporate mini-lessons, whole group and small group instruction, partner and independent work. Small group instruction is based on student strengths and needed skills and strategies.
WRITING:
Write from the Beginning is a vertically aligned program that utilizes Thinking Maps to help students plan and draft narrative, expository, and opinion genres of writing.
